Nomination: Our Research on Upcycling lignin gets Nominated for the Falling Walls prize!

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

The Falling Walls Foundation opens a call every year looking for those projects and ideas that are "breaking the walls" in different fields, and this year I had the chance to be selected amongst the top 30 world finalist in the domain of Engineering and Technology!

The nomination features our research in the domain of lignin valorization, where we endeavor to "break the walls" to biorefineries by sourcing petrochemicals from plant biomass and sunlight.

I would like to thank the University of Alicante for putting forwards my candidacy, and my team. Together we are bringing visibility to the very much needed circular economy and the valorization of lignin biomass, all in all driving the world forward in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.

Personally, I would like to congratulate all other nominees. I am humbled to appear amongst such visioaries with a passion to change the world with science in all sorts of exciting domains from agritech, CO2 conversion, medtech, photovoltaics, batteries and more.
